Grace Beyond the Glass

Faith and Recovery: A Woman’s Journey Through the 12 Steps

Twenty-three years sober and I still hadn’t written down what I knew. This is the book I wish someone had handed me at six months. The Christian framing is mine — you can have it or leave it. The wisdom underneath belongs to anyone who needs it.

About the Book

Grace Beyond the Glass is a Christian woman’s walk through the Twelve Steps, written from twenty-three years of lived recovery and the long work of helping other women find their way to the same ground.

If you have been looking for a Twelve Step guide that doesn’t strip out the faith and doesn’t bury you in church language either — this is that book. It walks you through each step with the same honest, practical care a good sponsor brings to a kitchen table at midnight. It is the conversation I wish someone had had with me when I was new.

Every chapter takes one step seriously, names the fear underneath it, gives you a usable handful of questions to sit with, and shows you what the work looks like when you actually do it. There are no slogans dressed up as wisdom. There is no shame about where you are right now. There is the steady company of a woman who has been further down the road than you and who is not in any hurry.

You can read this book at six months sober or at sixteen years. It will meet you where you are.

Why I Wrote This

Because the Christian woman in recovery is a real person who has been mostly left to choose between secular books that pretend faith isn’t the spine of her life, and church books that pretend the Twelve Steps are something to be wary of. She deserves a book that honors both. I wrote that book.
